This is my first scratch built weapon.
I have images of this in my Album but can't seem to upload them here.

There is a local commemorative project that I am helping with and I wanted to show children that they can make things fairly easily without needing computer systems. (Not that I'm a Luddite, we just want to help them understand the principals of design).

My first attempt was in Foam board but the result was too rough for me so I had a go in balsawood with a few bits I made in thin styrene sheet.

I hope people like it.
Thank you for viewing,

Very nice work Bernard. You have managed to get some great detail in there for balsa. What are the 'metal' parts made out of?

Thanks Jason.

It's all mostly Balsawood.
Even some of the metal bits, but items with hard edges are styrene.
The clips at each end of the sling are metal parts from fishing tackle and the buckles are photo etched copper(?) that I buy.
Wooden rifle parts = I used a dark brown for the bottom edges and lighter one for the top ones.
Metal rifle parts = I sprayed black then misted on a metallic silver.

Incidentally I then tried the same technique on a Vickers 303 GO Machine Gun (Land Service Version) I am scratch building but because the Vickers is mainly metal it just didn't look right so for the most part I am using foam board for that one.
